reshape. consume. become.

Ancient Egyptians believed that both humans and animals emerged from clay, with all elements—plants, minerals, animals, wind, and rain—intertwined. My performance embodies a ritual that seeks to return to this origin through the acts where I reshape, consume, and become. The clay works used are the ones that we're crafted in my previous work "Sue's Sanctuary of the Seven Souls."

I consume the clay, the audience consumes my work. Let's exchange this experience.

"Great performance. Made a huge impression on me. Thanks!"

Sue's Sanctuary of the Seven Souls

Ritualistic performance where people are invited to sculpt one of the seven clay souls
@ Expositie TRIP,  Langhuis, Zwolle
January 16th, 2024

Ancient Egyptians believed in an intriguing sevenfold composition of the human being, comprising seven souls. Not only human, but also animal, plant, mineral, heart, breath, body, and the 'secret name.' This deeply rooted belief in the Magical Realm guides my artistic exploration of origins, where humans and animals are formed from clay, and sculptures are imbued with spirit—moving from formlessness to renewal.

In Sue’s Sanctuary of the Seven Souls, visitors are invited to sculpt one of seven clay souls at offering tables, symbolizing the creation of ‘the Renewed.’ This participatory ritual is central to my work, inviting visitors into an animistic experience that brings the Magical Realm to life.

Chapel of Cats

Ritualistic performance to transform into Cat People

@ Griftpark, Utrecht

January 7th, 2023

The (Traveling) Chapel of Cats celebrates the mystical connection between humans and felines. Revered as gods, cats are seen as symbols of the sublime. This pyramid-shaped Chapel invites the world to embrace cats as divine beings and experience them as art, guiding visitors through rituals that gradually transform them into “Cat People”—beings deeply attuned to feline essence.

Experiencing the Cat as Art

  • Enter through whisker-brushed walls
  • Touch the fluffy walls that may purr or hiss
  • Feel the floor’s purr beneath your steps
  • Relax on toe-beanbags
  • Beware of sharp “claws."

Cat People Transcendence Ritual
The journey to becoming "Cat People" requires a commitment to a transformative ritual that unfolds through practices of energy generation and sharing, mental focus via Qi Gong, and the joyful release of one’s inner cat with a loud meow, accompanied by the sacred sounds of the Sistrum. With each ritual, participants may begin to notice subtle physical changes, such as the emergence of faint whiskers or even cat ears. As they persist in this practice, they deepen their connection to the feline spirit, cultivating a profound alignment between their essence and the divine nature of cats.
